Thermal-Storage Synergy: LISINER’s 20MW/20MWh Project in Indonesia Goes Live

Recently, a 20MW/20MWh thermal power and energy storage frequency regulation project in Indonesia, supported by LISINER, was successfully commissioned.

Located at approximately 2.287730°S, 121.771426°E, the project is owned by PT SHUOSHI INDONESIA INVESTMENT and developed by Hangzhou Zhean New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The system comprises six 3.44MWh battery containers designed for 1C operation. Integrated with the thermal power units, the BESS delivers fast-response frequency regulation to improve dispatch accuracy and grid stability.

Enhancing Grid Flexibility through Thermal-Storage Coordination

As electricity demand continues to grow and renewable energy penetration increases in Indonesia, thermal power units are facing greater requirements for faster and more precise power regulation.

The integration of energy storage effectively improves the secondary frequency regulation performance of the thermal power units, enabling faster and more accurate responses to grid dispatch instructions, reducing regulation deviations, and supporting more stable grid operation.

Engineered for Indonesia’s Challenging Climate

Indonesia’s high temperatures, high humidity, and coastal salt-spray conditions place demanding requirements on energy storage equipment.

To ensure reliable operation, LISINER optimized the system for local conditions with enhanced thermal management and environmental protection. The customized thermal management design improves heat dissipation for both the PCS and battery system, ensuring stable performance even under full-power operation.

The BESS also feature IP54 protection and C5-M corrosion resistance, with dedicated protection against water ingress, salt spray, windblown sand, and other environmental factors, helping ensure long-term system reliability.

Expanding Global Energy Storage Applications

The successful commissioning of the Indonesia project marks another step forward in China-Indonesia green energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and provides additional support for local grid optimization and energy transition.

Looking ahead, LISINER will continue to advance energy storage technologies and deliver safe, reliable, and efficient energy storage solutions for diverse applications worldwide, contributing to more flexible and stable power systems.
